Keep on trucking, please…

03/04/2020

In a crisis like today, vital parts of our society should receive extra recognition, both financially and personally.  It is refreshing and heartwarming to see solidarity rise up in times of need.  As I see people applauding health workers and supporting the food industry I feel relieved that there is only a small minority in this country and hopefully the world that is attempting to use this crisis to their benefit or attempt to be first in line to get essentials.

In these times a chain is only as strong as the combination of the links.  One of these important links in our FMCG supply chain is trucks and truck drivers. In normal times we might curse at their contribution to traffic jams and possibly even accidents, but when it really matters like today, these companies and individuals form the glue that makes the retail supply chain stick together.

Yesterday we received news of a truck accident where the driver was killed, transporting our pallets to a producer of essential products that we all need from our supermarkets.  This incident caused a shockwave through our team and is an example of the risks that are out there, with or without a virus.  Truck drivers are often away from their families and spend many hours or days in their truck, you could say confined to a smaller space than any of us are today.

So, from all of us at Contraload, we want to underline the importance of trucking companies in today’s world and thank the drivers for their dedication to their profession in this Corona virus outbreak.

You have the job that keeps our economy running and are making a difference for millions in these troubled times !  Respect !
